CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Terminal 3 at O’Hare is getting a $200 million upgrade.

The FAA is adding $50 million to the project from the infrastructure bill that was passed in 2021. That’s on top of $150 million coming from a variety of sources.

“With demand for air travel surging back, this funding to improve the passenger experience couldn’t come at a more urgent time,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a statement. “These grants will make it faster and easier to check your bags, get through security and find your gate, all while creating jobs.”

Work starts this summer and is expected to take two years.

This comes as work continues on a $1.3 billion upgrade to Terminal 5 and the upcoming $7 billion replacement of Terminal 2.
