(WBBM Newsradio) -- Next month's Old Town Art Fair is among several cultural events that Chicago Mayor Lightfoot says can go ahead as the COVID-19 pandemic eases and vaccination rates rise.
Anne Giffels, who runs the fair, said it's great news for the roughly 200 artists taking part. Many have been financially struggling during the pandemic and will be able to sell some of their work.
There will be modifications this year. Booths will be spaced 6 feet from each other and attendees will be expected to wear masks.
Because of capacity limits set by the state, only about half of the usual number of visitors will be allowed.
People who want to attend the fair will need to pre-register. Signups begin Saturday at the Old Town Art Fair's web site.
