(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Parents in Naperville School District 203 gave school board members an earful Monday night, demanding schools fully re-open for in-person learning.
Parent Jason Moderi called for members of the District 203 School Board to step down immediately and compared the panel to a prison parole board, with students in e-learning prison.
"I came here tonight to blast you for being epic failures at your job and for failing our kids, and I'm asking for each of your resignations. I know you won't resign but if you won't act, we will elect those who will,” he said.
Parent Rick Eertmoed said children are being hurt by not being together in schools, while Nikki Hansra-Godfrey, a critical care doctor, said schools can be made safe with proper mitigations.
"If you had asked me in March 2020 if children should be in school, I would have definitely hesitated,” said Hansra-Godfrey, adding we know so much more about transmission of COVID-19 now.
Supt. Dan Bridges says he expects to submit a plan to expand in-person instruction later this month.
