CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Police have issued an alert concerning a months-long string of robberies in the Englewood neighborhood during which social media has been used to lure unsuspecting victims.

Police said there have been nearly two dozen incidents in July, August, September and October.

Almost every one of them have been on the 6700 block of South Elizabeth- in the Englewood neighborhood.

In each case, the offer to buy a motorcycle or ATV was advertised on Facebook Marketplace, according to police.

In each case, the seller arrived at a meeting place – 18 times on the 6700 block of South Elizabeth – and would be met by someone with a gun with an extended magazine, who would then take their property.

Police said one to four people are involved, depending on the individual incident.
