CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - President Biden will come to Chicago for a speech this afternoon and raise some campaign money. Governor Pritzker will be playing host.
President Biden is expected to deliver a speech on his economic plan. He describes it as growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top down.
Later, he’s expected to raise money at a reception in his honor hosted by Illinois’s billionaire Governor and his wife MK Pritzker.
The governor was asked if he’d talk with Mr. Biden about the ongoing migrant crisis here.
“If I do, it will be the 10th time that I’ve had interactions with the White House or directly with the president about the migrant crisis , about the problem of inhumane governors in Florida and Texas who are literally shipping people around the country and ignoring their rights,” the governor said.
Pritzker revealed that also on his wish list to Biden is migrant work permits.
“We have a lot of people who have been in this country now since August. They’re here legally. They’re following the law, doing everything they’re supposed to do, and they just want to go get a job. And, I think they should have the ability to go get a job. By the way, this is a moment when we need workers.
The governor’s playing a large role in Joe Biden’s re-election bid despite what some say are his own presidential ambitions.
