CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As the election is just weeks away, the big story in Illinois seems to be a law that was passed almost two years ago that still doesn’t take effect for another three months.
Gov. JB Pritzker said cash bail is unfair, but his opponents have been aggressive about burning their message in. Pritzker said there’s one reason why...
“Well, they’re lying,” he said. “The Safe-T Act is designed to keep murderers, rapists, and domestic abusers in jail,” as opposed to keeping, in a description team Pritzker has repeated, an indigent mother detained for months for shoplifting diapers.
Pritzker attended three “early voting events” Thursday afternoon around the state.

The Safe-T Act takes effect January 1.
