SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor J.B. Pritzker gave his take on the mayor's race.
Now that there are two candidates standing, Gov. JB Pritzker Wednesday said he is not ready to endorse either one now, if at all.
"Look-the governor and the mayor of the city of Chicago have to be able to work together," Pritzker said at an unrelated news conference in Springfield.
"We saw four years under (former mayor) Rahm Emanuel and (former governor) Bruce Rauner where they didn't, and that wasn't good for the state or the city of Chicago."
Pritzker made the nine-way primary sound like a demolition derby.
"A messy primary is, frankly, a cacophony for most people, so I do think (Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson) are going to have to articulate and direct their message," said the governor.
"What are they going to do about education? What are they going to do about healthcare?"
Vallas and Johnson were the top two vote-getters Tuesday. Since no one captured 50% of the vote, the two have a runoff on April 4.
