Proposed development could bring 700 new homes to Aurora

New house under construction

AURORA(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A new housing development could bring thousands of people and millions of dollars to Aurora.

The proposed 500 acre development would straddle the Eola Road extension leading to Route 30 on the southeast corner of Aurora.

The Beacon News reported Pulte Homes would build more than 700 new houses and bring as many as 2,600 people to the city over the course of 10 years.

The proposed development would include single family homes and an age-restricted, active adult community operated by Pulte Homes' Del Webb brand.

Russell Whitaker, the Naperville-based attorney representing Pulte, said the development would also include numerous amenities, such as parks, ponds, walking and biking paths and clubhouses; with a highlight being a pedestrian bridge over the extended Eola Road as part of the trail system in Lincoln Crossing.

Whitaker told the Beacon News, overall, the development should create at least $4 million a year in property taxes for School District 308, and about $3 million a year for the city of Aurora.
