Quincy man charged for allegedly attacking Chicago police officer in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man from Quincy, Ill., has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly assaulting a Chicago police officer, the police department announced Sunday.

Authorities said Thomas Tucker, 29, was arrested Friday shortly after 9 p.m. in Lincoln Park, after he was identified as the person who, minutes earlier, allegedly battered and disarmed a Chicago police officer.

Police claim Tucker discharged the officer’s weapon during a struggle and fled on foot after the officer was able to regain control of his weapon.

No one was struck by the gunfire.

Tucker was taken into custody shortly after by responding officers, police said. The charges against Tucker included aggravated battery of a peace officer, as well as aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm.
