(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hearings before the Chicago Police Board begin in three weeks to determine if the police officer who shot and killed 13-year-old Adam Toledo should be fired.
The latest development is the filing of administrative charges against Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman, who shot and killed 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Little Village two years ago.
Stillman fatally shot Toledo early on March 29, 2021 after responding to a call of shots fired in Little Village. He chased the armed teen down an alley and ordered Toledo to show his hands. The teen tossed the gun and turned with raised hands when the officer fired. Body camera video shows Stillman calling for an ambulance and trying to administer aid.
Previously, then-Police Supt. David Brown had said Stillman should not be fired, and State's Attorney Kim Foxx declined to charge the officer. Now, Brown's temporary successor, Eric Carter, has recommended Stillman be fired.
Baltazar Enriquez, the president of the Little Village Community Council, on Tuesday said Stillman should be kicked off the department.
"Not only fire him but take his pension, take his insurance. He's a murderer. Who pays a pension to a murderer?" he said.
Tim Grace is the attorney representing Officer Stillman.
"We all see after the shooting how he reacted. He immediately rendered aid. He was broken up about what he had to do. He's the guy that has to live with this, because he didn't want to kill anybody."
