DEKALB (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There was a vigil ahead of the Mother’s Day weekend for a high school freshman who was found murdered in DeKalb earlier this month.
Fifteen-year old Gracie Sasso-Cleveland was missing for a few days before her body was found last week.
The DeKalb Daily Chronicle said prosecutors accuse 29-year old registered sex offender Timothy Doll of suffocating the teenager with a pillow . He is alleged to have put her body into a laundry basket and dumped it in his next door neighbor’s dumpster. Prosecutors said Doll hurt his back in the process and called for help from paramedics.
A witness told police they heard a female yelling in Doll’s apartment, “just give me my phone back. I want to leave. And, I can’t breathe.”
Police found some of the girl’s clothing in Doll’s basement.
Gracie’s mom reportedly knew she was in a relationship with Doll but hadn’t realized he was nearly twice her age and was a registered sex offender.
