Aurora police on Tuesday announced a break in the disappearance of a 22-year-old woman nearly 18 years ago.
The Kane County Coroner's office confirmed that human remains found back in December 2020 have been identified as those of Tyesha Bell.
Bell’s sister told police that she left their shared apartment suddenly back in May 2003 after getting a late-night phone call.
She had left candles burning in her room, and her two children with relatives.
Police now say they've opened a homicide investigation.
