(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The ribbon has been cut for a new elementary school on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
The new Belmont-Cragin Elementary and Early Childhood Center is located in the 6100 block of West Fullerton. Principal Jorge Melgar thanked the neighborhood’s parents for fighting for this day to come.
City officials say the new 83,000-square-foot school will have a theater, a music room, a library, an art room, and 32 updated classrooms among other things. It is focused on music and dance.
It’s a dual-language school, with the aim of making all students fluent in English and Spanish.
