CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An iconic downtown restaurant is celebrating a milestone.
Russian Tea Time has been a Chicago staple for locals and tourists alike since 1993.
Co-owner Enesh Mantyyeva used to enjoy tea there when she was a student at DePaul. Now, she and her sister own and run the iconic restaurant.
“Whenever people come to Russian Tea Time, they always say, ‘oh my god, I feel like I went to my grandma’s kitchen, it’s so quiet and warm, and the service is amazing.’ I think we’re able to provide that experience that takes people back in time,” Mantyyeva said.
Mantyyeva said people stop in from around the world to enjoy their unique cuisine and traditional décor.
“Beef stroganoff was one of the favorites for many, many years…We have stuffed cabbage, which is also one of the favorites. We have thirty different types of teas and house teas, a blend of Darjeeling and Black Currant,” Mantyyeva said.
Russia Tea Time is one of the city’s few Russian restaurants.
