CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police said two people got a raw deal while trying to buy a car from someone on Facebook Marketplace Wednesday.

Police said one of the would-be car buyers showed up to make their purchase on 53rd Street and Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. The other went to the 300 block of West 42nd Street in Canaryville.

There, authorities said they met up with a woman who called herself Diamond. But Instead of making an exchange — money for the car — three men with guns entered the scene, took the car buyers’ money and drove away.

Chicago police said the Washington Park robbery took place at 1 p.m. and the Canaryville robbery took place at 5:45 p.m.

Area One detectives are trying to find the armed robberies.
