
With many looking to get involved in relief efforts for Ukraine, there’s a warning about the threat of scams.
Leaders of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois say scammers have taken notice of the new interest in making charitable donations to the people of Ukraine and wasted no time in creating fake donation sites or fraudulent pleas for money.
Before making a donation BBB officials say there are a few things to ask yourself, including whether your donation will actually make it to the people of Ukraine, if donating clothes or supplies is practical, given shipping constraints, and if a charity as experienced in emergency relief.
The organization has also compiled a list of accredited places to donate on their website.
