Police seize more than $160,000 cash, 1,500 grams of cocaine in Joliet drug bust

JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Joliet have made several arrests following a drug investigation.

Joliet Police and federal investigators executed arrest warrants on Wednesday and seized more than 1,500 grams of cocaine and more than $160,000 cash.

Victor Gutierrez-Barajas, 32, Tomas Aguirre, 41 and Consuelo Aguirre-Recendiz, 52 were arrested and face numerous charges.

Joliet Police said the arrests were part of a multi-year investigation initiated by the Joliet Police Narcotics Unit.

"Due to the strong collaborative effort between the Joliet Police Department and our federal law enforcement partners, our streets are safer from the scourge of narcotics," said Joliet Police Chief William Evans in a statement.

"I applaud the tireless work of these men and women.”
