(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting coronirvus outbreaks at 26 schools, including several in the Chicago suburbs.
An “outbreak” in this sense means two or more COVID cases at a school.
One school — Glenbrook Elementary in Streamwood — reported between 11 and 16 Covid cases.
The state’s public health department lists 26 schools in all that currently have outbreaks.
The Chicago Tribune reports that a few of the schools with outbreaks have been placed on probation for not complying with the state’s school mask mandate. But most of the schools with an outbreak right now reportedly are in compliance with the governor’s order.
Schools with reported outbreaks are in Cook, Lake, Kane and Will counties.
