(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Chicago won’t stop with Thursday. The 41st annual Shamrock Shuffle is returning downtown on Sunday.
Twenty thousand people are expected to hit the streets around Grant Park Sunday morning for an 8k run and 2-mile walk.
Carey Pinkowski is not only running the event — he’s running in it, too.
“We haven’t done it, if you can believe it, for almost three years,” he said of the event. “I thought what better way to experience the return than to actually participate in it.”
Like many of those running, he’s fundraising too – for the Chicago parks foundation. After the shuffle, there will be a party in the park, which will include live music from the Shannon Rovers.
Packet pickup is Friday and Saturday at Buckingham Fountain. There’s a one-mile race Saturday.
