
She became a national celebrity during the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Now, three years later, Sister Jean is headed back to the Big Dance.
It simply wouldn’t be March Madness without the chaplain for Loyola University’s men’s basketball team.
“I’m just going to be so excited when I get there,” she told reporters via Zoom Tuesday afternoon. “It’s been a whole year since I’ve seen them play in a game.”
That will change Friday, the 101-year-old will travel to Indianapolis for the Ramblers’ first-round matchup with Georgia Tech.
“I want to go, not because myself, but because of the team. I want to be present for them,” she said.
After getting the green light to attend the tournament, Sister Jean said her focus is on a tournament run similar to the Rambler’s Final Four trip three years ago.
“I hope we do the same thing now because now, we need something to make us happy even more than we did in 2018.”
