Police in Elgin are looking for who’s responsible for a shooting early this morning that left five people wounded and one dead.

Officers responding to a call at around 2 a.m. found five people shot at a home near Congdon and Iroquois. They were taken to the hospital. A sixth victim had taken him or herself to the hospital as well. One later died from his injuries.

Elgin Police posted on their Facebook page: "Detectives continue to actively investigate this incident. The preliminary investigation has revealed that several subjects were gathering at a residence and subsequently victims were struck by gunfire. One male adult victim has since succumbed to his injuries. The name of the deceased is being withheld and will be released by the Kane County Coroner's Office pending an autopsy."

Police did not say what condition they were in. They’re asking for the public’s help in the case, which they say appears to be an isolated incident at some kind of gathering. You can call or text the police department with tips.
