(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A single-engine plane, en route to Darien, Ill., from southern Wisconsin, had to make an emergency landing Tuesday on Interstate 355 in Bolingbrook after the pilot reported a loss of power.
The Bolingbrook Fire Department told WBBM that the pilot was able to land the plane safely just before 2 p.m. without hitting any vehicles. The pilot was uninjured. The plane wasn’t damaged, and it was quickly moved off of the expressway.
At this point, according to officials, all is well.
The investigators in Bolingbrook said it was an “amazing” landing by the pilot, who was able to land the plane on a very busy tollway without hitting any vehicles or causing any damage.
Officials credited the pilot with “fantastic” skills in order to bring the craft down safely.
On its Facebook page, the Bolingbrook Fire Department said Tuesday’s incident was “just another day doing what we do.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot was the only person in the single-engine Beechcraft G33 at the time of the landing, and the FAA said it is investigating the emergency landing.
