CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As the nation marks two decades since the terrorist attacks on 9/11, all this week we look back at the events of that day and the way everyday life changed since.

When the 9/11 attacks occurred, Jacob Frazier, of St. Charles, was in the Illinois Air National Guard. He enlisted full-time and would become the first Illinois solder to be killed during the war on terror.

"I'll share something with you. The last day that I saw him, he was leaving and going to Afghanistan. He knew he was going there, and I told him, 'make sure you keep your head down, your weapon clean, and cover your buddy's back.' And he said, 'yeah, that's it. And we are going to hunt down and find those responsible for killing American citizens on 9/11.' That's one of his last things that he said to me. He wanted to go find the people responsible for 9/11, so the impact was great," said Jacob's father, Jim Frazier.

Jim Frazier would go on to work with other Illinois families, God Star families, those who lost loved ones in combat in Afghanistan.
