
Face masks are closer to coming off at Aurora schools.
COVID-19 numbers are falling in the Aurora area and that couples with Governor J.B. Pritzker's defeat in court that invalidated his orders for masking public schools, but that legal battle is not yet over. At this point, Governor Pritzker's plan is to lift the statewide indoor mask mandate on February 28, but not for schools.
The Beacon News reported East Aurora School District 131 has been requiring masks to be used, but now may look at making them optional in the cases keep dropping. The school board look at the issue on Tuesday.
West Aurora School District 129 has adjusted its guidelines to make masks optional, but they are still strongly recommended. That's the same case for Oswego-based school district 308.
