NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A private animal shelter in Naperville is warning donors that their credit card numbers may have been compromised when thieves broke into a mailbox.

She went on to explain that two thieves captured on surveillance video, were seen ripping apart the mailbox and taking stacks of mail. The shelter is doing its annual fundraiser and the stolen mail may include donation cards with credit card numbers.
“We’re heartbroken and devastated that funds meant to help our shelter animals may have been stolen. What kind of people steal from the animals," Stirn wrote.
The shelter is also asking the public that if they sent donations by mail and are unsure if their donation was received to please contact the shelter to confirm.
The shelter is now getting mail delivered to a post office box.
