CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A State Representative who represents the Albany Park neighborhood on Chicago’s North-West side wants something to be done about the recent increase of shootings in the area.
State Representative Jaime Andrade spoke to CBS 2 and said there have been six rolling gun battles in Albany Park in the past month-some of which have left people dead and wounded.
"They're shooting at any time of the day."
His numbers don’t match those of the Chicago Police Department, which reports only one incident in the Albany Park police district.
"It's clearly a lot more. There's something not being taken into consideration."
Andrade also told CBS 2 that he would like his district to receive more monetary aid from the state to fight crime.
"They say there's too much wealth on the north side of Chicago and so we cannot get any violence prevention funds up here.”
Andrade said the rolling gun battles involving rival gangs are sometimes fueled by insults on social media.
