CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago Police Department SWAT team surrounded a high-rise apartment building in the Old Town neighborhood Tuesday night following a police chase that started on the South Side.

Illinois State Police said a trooper spotted a stolen car on the Dan Ryan and tried to pull it over around 47th Street.

License plate reading cameras were involved, and ultimately there was a pursuit that ended miles away, at the Old Town Park Apartments on the 1100 block of North Wells Street.

Four people ran from the car.

Three were caught, including one in a short-term rental unit inside the high-rise building following a stand-off, which lasted for hours.

Residents had been taken out of the building.

One complained that the short-term units make the long-term tenants feel unsafe.

Police later showed pictures of guns that were found in the car and the apartment, including two AK-Style weapons and four handguns.
