(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — What do baseball, science and math have in common?
Hundreds of students will find out during an event at Wrigley Field Saturday.
Students from grades 6-12 will get a chance to learn all about how science, technology, engineering, art and math -- or STEAM -- is connected to sports.
Daren Heaton with the Science of Sport says the event is about changing kids’ perspective about something they love already and using real world examples to learn about math and science.
An example, he said: “What is the proper angle to make the ball travel the furthest distance?”
The event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free. Cubs Hall of Famer Lee Smith and former Cub Carlos Pena will also be on hand.
Students will also be showing off their school science projects for prizes.
