(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Residents of Park Ridge have rallied to support a brother and sister who became orphans when their mother was killed last month in a traffic accident.
Police say Nataliya Kasiyan was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was walking along a road in Greenfield, Wisconsin.
She was the mother of 12-year-old Zahar and 17-year-old Angelina, whose father died in 2018.
Brad Schwartz, who coaches Zahar on Park Ridge's youth baseball team, organized a fundraiser last Sunday at Hinkley Park that drew hundreds of people and raised nearly $11,000 for the siblings.
Donations continue to come in through a Go Fund Me page he set up for the brother and sister.
