(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A drama teacher for the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 claims in a new lawsuit that the suburban school system’s anti-racist programming is in itself racist.
The teacher, Stacy Deemar, is seeking an injunction on the practice that includes segregating teachers by their race during anti-racist training and doing the same with students in their education of race-based topics.
An attorney representing Deemar, Kimberly Hermann of the Southeastern Legal Foundation on Wednesday said the lawsuit claims non-white students are taught to hate those that are white and white students are taught to hate themselves.
“Students should not be taught that. That is not what our country is about,” she said.
The Evanston/Skokie School District has not returned requests by WBBM Newsradio for comment.
