(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 24-year-old man from the North Shore suburbs is the latest Illinoisan to be charged in connection with the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Prosecutors say images posted to social media show Christian Kulas of Kenilworth at the Capitol during the siege, as mobs interrupted lawmakers certifying the 2020 presidential results.
Investigators say Kulas’s mother confirmed in a text message that her son was in a photo posted online from the insurrection.
Kulas is charged with misdemeanor unlawful entry of a restricted building and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
A judge released Kulas to his mother, on several conditions. Among them: He must surrender his passport and cannot leave northern Illinois without permission.
Two guns owned by his father at the family home must be surrendered by Friday.
