(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 35-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of a River North bank branch employee, Chicago police said Friday.
Jawaun Westbrooks faces one felony count of first-degree murder.
He was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old employee of Chase Bank at a North Dearborn Street branch earlier in the day.
Jessica Vilaythong, 24, died Thursday evening from her injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Westbrooks was expected to appear in court Saturday. Police say he was charged with assaulting two women at Navy Pier in 2014 and was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
