CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago police are investigating a shooting and attempted arson on the South Side overnight.

Chicago police said they responded to a call of shots fired shortly before 2 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of West 73rd Place in the Englewood neighborhood. When they arrived, they learned that before shots were fired into a house, someone threw a flaming object through the front window, setting a basket of laundry on fire.

Residents were able to put out the fire before it spread, police said.

No one was wounded or killed in the gunfire and police do not have anyone in custody.
