
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two teenage boys were critically wounded in a drive-by shooting Monday night in South Chicago on the city’s Southeast Side.
Chicago police said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday night in the 8200 block of South Coles Avenue. Two teenage boys, ages 13 and 14, were walking on the sidewalk, when police said someone in a red Cherokee Jeep fired shots and fled.
The 13-year-old boy suffered gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen. Chicago police rushed him to Comers Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
The 14-year-old boy was struck in the chest and abdomen and taken to the same hospital, also in critical condition, by Chicago Fire Department paramedics, according to police.
So far, no one is in custody, police said.
Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting.
