(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Artists producing beautiful relief prints and sharing their skills with others — all Made in Chicago.

Deborah Maris Lader runs the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, a longtime fixture in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.

It's a place where artists carve or etch images into a variety of materials, which are then covered with ink and used to create artistic prints.

“We love carving into wood and drawing on stones and etching into copper plates and all those kinds of things," Maris Lader said.

The CPC allows visitors to see some of the finest works from leading relief print artists. It also offers a wide range of classes in relief printing.

"It's really aimed toward everyone,” Maris Lader said.

The CPC has even found a fun way to teach relief printing to kids.

"We carve vegetables, carrots and potatoes and parsnips, and they will never look askance at a parsnip again," Maris Lader said.
