CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A community organization is hoping for brighter days after a railroad shipping container full of Christmas donations was stolen from a South Side lot.
Delece Williams, the founder of Kidz Korna, said she almost couldn’t get out of bed over Thanksgiving weekend after learning the weekend before that $50,000-worth of Christmas donations had been stolen along with the 53-foot long shipping container they were in on 65th Street and Parnell Avenue.
Williams told WBBM Newsradio there is new hope of finding the thieves.

“One of the neighbors called and gave us tips as to where to locate some cameras around here so I immediately called the detectives who’s working on the story to let him know,” Williams said.
Williams said there were kids toys, clothing, jewelry, blenders, microwaves and more that had been stored in the container.
“If anybody knows anything, let us know. Bring it back,” she said.
New donations are starting to coming in so that her group can help provide a little Christmas cheer to under-privileged young people in Chicago, Williams said.
“We just got to keep the faith. We got to continue to be hopeful and see where this leads us,” she said.
Kidz Korna is hoping for more donations on its website, www.thekidzkorna.com.
Williams says the shipping container was stolen on Friday, November 19th and that neighbors hadn’t thought anything was amiss because the thieves had had a tow truck with an extended bed with them and stayed around the container for about an hour before driving away with it.
