(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Students in south suburban Thornton Township High School District 205 will go remote when they return from winter break next week.
Monday had been listed as a teacher institute day on the calendar, but now District 205 officials say there will be no school Tuesday so that teachers can prepare their virtual classrooms.
In a letter to parents, Supt. Nathaniel Cunningham said the rise in COVID cases prompted the move. Students at Thornridge, Thornwood and Thornton Township high schools will have seven days of remote learning, starting Wednesday Jan. 12.
They are slated to return to in-person learning on Jan. 24.
During the seven-day remote period, COVID-19 testing will be available for students and teachers at the schools. Check the schedule here.
