(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Tinley Park took an apparent suspect into custody Monday following the Sunday night murder of a high school student.

Mia Maro was found dead in her family’s home on Sunday night and the medical examiner’s office has ruled her death a homicide with multiple traumatic injuries.

Police said they have a person of interest.

The girl’s father was reported to have been removed from the home on a stretcher.

Classmates created a memorial outside the home on the 7800 block of West 167th Street.

“You’re a psychopath,” her brother, according to a neighbor, was heard screaming when police were arriving.

It’s unclear who he was addressing, according to Fox 32.

The 17-year-old was a senior at Andrew High School.

The principal wrote in a letter, it was a “very sad day."
