WAUKEGAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Waukegan police are investigating anti-Semitic graffiti that was discovered on headstones at the Congregation Am Echod Jewish Cemetery.

The vandalism was discovered early Monday in the cemetery on Grand Avenue. Sixteen headstones were defaced with red spray-painted Swastikas, and two dozen other headstones were also defaced with graffiti.

Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor said she’s “deeply disturbed and angered by the hateful imagery.” She called it “a despicable act.”

Police are asking anyone who may have seen something to report it.
