
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Humboldt Park.
The Chicago Fire Department said crews responded mid-Tuesday morning to a two-story home on Monticello near Wabansia. The fire intensified and was upgraded to a two-alarm, initiating a request for additional firefighters.
Shortly thereafter, conditions became dangerous and a mayday call was issued. All responding firefighters were able to evacuate.
Two firefighters were transported to an area hospital in good condition, the CFD said.
There were no civilian injuries.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
