GARY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A shooting marred what had been a joyous graduation ceremony in Gary Sunday night at the RailCats Baseball Stadium.
Gary police said two people were shot and taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake after the West Side Leadership Academy graduation ceremony.
Gary police said the shooting happened after a fight broke out as people were leaving the graduation ceremony. Three people are in custody, including one person with a handgun, according to police.
The manager of the Gary Community School Corporation issued a statement pointing out how students had conducted themselves in an excellent manner during the graduation, only to be overshadowed by the disruptive actions of a few.
