
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- University of Illinois Police are investigating the off-campus stabbing of two students that occurred early Friday morning.
The two students, according to police, go into an argument with three others at about 2 a.m. near Kam’s on Green Street, a bar popular with students.
One student was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen. The second had a slash wound to the face.
Police radio broadcast a description of the three as Asian males.
Student Sonali Shanbhag said she was nearby and revieved a text alert from the university. She spoke to CBS 3 in Champaign.
"It was really scary and we just texted around in the group chat to make sure that everyone was safe."
One of the students had multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. They were not considered life-threatening. The other had a minor slash wound to the face.
Police said there is surveillance camera video that is being used in the investigation.
