(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Another strike at a state university has been suspended after faculty and staff reached a tentative agreement with administrators.

Unionized employees at Governors State University announced a deal Monday evening.

“We’re relieved that we’ve come out of this process with a contract that addresses workload concerns so that we can better support students, and that gives our outstanding faculty and staff fair compensation for the great work they do every day,” GSU University Professionals of Illinois President Mike Hart said in a prepared statement.

Details were not shared. But faculty and staff were set to return to work Tuesday, with a vote on the agreement pending.

Employees went on strike April 11 after what they said was an impasse with the Governors State administration.

Striking faculty and staff at Chicago State University likewise announced their labor action had ended with a tentative deal.
