CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Federal prosecutors have unsealed a 160-page FBI affidavit concerning the corruption investigation of Alderman Ed Burke, shedding more light on the case.

The affidavit confirms that Alderman Burke was secretly videotaped in his office at City Hall by then-alderman Danny Solis, himself under pressure from the FBI.

It was filed ahead of the 2018 raid on Burke’s office but, until now, has been under seal. The affidavit said the FBI sought permission to use Burke’s fingers to unlock his phone, if necessary.

One conversation followed a meeting with the developers of the Old Post Office, at the heart of the indictment. Its alleged Burke was trying to squeeze them, and others to hire his law firm.

Burke is quoted as telling Solis “you and I are not gonna get in trouble over this at this stage in the game.” He told Solis to bring him more developers.

Burke is alleged to have said, "They all, ah, they all need somebody that does what I do.” He has denied wrongdoing.

A federal judge will consider hundreds of pages of motions filed by Burke's lawyers next month.
