CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 27-year-old Chicago man accused of shooting an Oak Park police officer during a traffic stop last week has been ordered on $3-million bail.
Enrique Rosa is hospitalized and was not present for the court hearing Sunday where prosecutors said that Thursday morning he had immediately opened fire on officers when he exited his vehicle on the Harlem bridge over the Eisenhower Expressway.
Rosa is charged with attempted murder of a police officer and aggravated battery with a firearm. He is accused of shooting one officer in the arm and leg.
An officer did return fire striking, Rosa twice in the leg.
Illinois State Police said that they are investigating the officers use of force.
The judge overseeing the bail hearing noted that it wasn't the first time Rosa had been involved in aggressive acts toward police and set the bond at $3 million.
