CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Someone threw a brick through the front window of Alderman Ray Lopez’s (15th Ward) Southwest Side office Thursday night, marking the fourth instance of vandalism targeting his properties this year.
Alderman Lopez posted surveillance video on Twitter of the vandals - three people with hoods - on throwing rocks or bricks through the window of his office on the 2700 block of West 47th Street and running off.
This marks the third time Lopez's office was vandalized. In July, his office was vandalized twice, with bricks thrown through the front windows.
Also in July, on another occasion, vandals targeted his Brighton Park home and set fire to a neighbor's garage - apparently mistaking it as his own. In each case, Lopez blamed gang members.
"This is gang intimidation. This was meant to send a message," Ald. Lopez said.
After the the incident at his home, Lopez said he had earlier confronted a landlord about a gang-member tenant and gang members came out of four homes; one told him he doesn’t make the decisions in the neighborhood.
Lopez said he is working with detectives to identify the individuals involved.
After Thursday’s attack, Lopez cast blame toward Mayor Lori Lightfoot and CPD Supt. David Brown, tweeting, “At what point will she & Brown realize their policies are fueling brazen acts like this?”
No one is in custody as Area One detectives investigate.
