CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson was out shaking the hands of voters this morning who helped put him in the mayor’s office.

The mayor-elect was greeted warmly by people at the CTA Chinatown Red Line stop with people thanking him and some saying "God bless you."

Steven Pope was among those shaking Johnson’s hand.

"I tell people I'm looking for something new," he said. "The old politicians-it's time for them to move aside."

Johnson described his victory as "a historic moment, an exciting moment for the city of Chicago, a better stronger safe city is something that we're all gonna work towards together."
