Parents and supporters wore orange at gun control events across the country on Saturday.

In Chicago, the mother and father who started the Wear Orange movement remembered their daughter, Hadiya Pendleton, as they led a gun control event in Bronzeville.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot attended the peace festival, which honored Pendleton and other young people killed by guns. The festival provided resources for people struggling with mental health issues.

Pendleton's parents will also throw out the first pitch at Sunday’s Cubs game.

The Cubs have encouraged fans to wear orange, and the team has been flying orange flags all weekend. The color, which hunters wear to avoid getting shot, has become a hallmark of gun violence awareness.

Pendleton was shot in January 2013, days after she performed at former President Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

Pendleton would have turned 25 on June 2.
