CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A non-profit that works with at-risk kids on Chicago’s West Side is asking for help after a burglary at their West Humboldt Park headquarters.

According to police, the burglary happened around 4:45 a.m. Monday at the headquarters of the non-profit called “The Bloc”, a former church on the 1300 block of North Karlov.

"Four to five thieves broke in and robbed our kids and community of valuable items that have helped enable us be a sanctuary for kids in Chicago," said Founder Jamyle Cannon.

Electronics and a van were stolen and there was damage.

Founder Jamyle Cannon, who runs boxing and academic programs there, shared a message via a video on Facebook and asked for donations.

"They don't care about the hundreds of kids who have walked through our doors and found themselves; who said they never would have graduated high school without us; who have taken their lives back from anger and isolation. They don't care about the kids who have succeeded against the odds. We can't let them stop us. I am reaching out for your help," Cannon said.

The burglary was caught on surveillance video, but there are no clear images of the burglars faces.

Donations can be made on The Bloc's Facebook page.
