White Sox pitcher will not be suspended following allegations of domestic violence: MLB

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The MLB announced that it will not suspend Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger following allegations of domestic violence and after conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

The investigation included interviews of more than 15 individuals, including Clevinger and the complainant and a review of available documents, which include communication records, according to a statement released by the MLB.

The MLB said the investigation is closed for now and Clevinger will not face any disclipinary action in connection with the allegations.

“As part of his path forward, Mr. Clevinger has voluntarily agreed to submit to evaluations by the joint treatment boards under the collectively bargained policies, and to comply with any of the boards’ recommendations. MLB will continue to make support services available to Mr. Clevinger, his family, and other individuals involved in the investigation.”

The Chicago White Sox issued its own statement in response to the MLB's statement, saying they respect the decision.

The Major League Baseball Players Association released a statement on behalf of Clevinger.

"I had nothing to hide and cooperated fully with MLB. This situation has been stressful for my family, and I thank them for their strength and support. I asked everyone not to rush to judgment until MLB’s investigation was concluded, and I appreciate everyone who had faith in me, including the White Sox organization and my teammates."
